Artist Statement and Bio
Harmonic frequencies, synapses, shamanic power animals, symbolisms, quantum physics—these are all subjects of my artistic research. My photography goes hand in hand with my spiritual research, the journey of personal growth and consciousness development that began many years ago: they say I'm a mystical photographer... I simply define myself as an aesthete. Spirituality in this dualistic world is materialized in nature, and nature is an aesthetic experience, as opposed to ethics, to morality, which are concepts of the mind. My photographs are a eulogy to aesthetics, the search for beauty, perhaps in hidden details or in forms concealed from an indifferent eye. Creating and taking photographs is my calling, my talent that obliges me to respond. When I do it, I feel alive. When I photograph, I feel alive and every sensation of time passing vanishes. I live in that moment. The highest purpose of my project, of my idea, is as I said, to find and tell the beauty that others cannot see, the mysteries of the world and of life, as well as of people. To contribute to making the hidden side of things perceptible, yet often that side is right there within reach. That's why I prefer abstract photography and images that I define as "zen photography," that is, when you create a minimalist image, clean of every distracting interference, to direct attention, the focus, on a detail or an isolated subject. It's also a way to reflect on other points of view, on the fact that there isn't only one when we observe something—a concept that also applies to ideas... The result of this approach is the expression of what I feel, of my feelings through a unique and original vision of the reality that surrounds me. This is my dream.
Born in 1971 in Genoa, I began photographing at the age of 17. First as self-taught, then following advertising photography courses in Milan and London. After spending ten years traveling around the world and photographing for magazines, national and international newspapers (Qui Touring and Touring publisher for travel guides and books, Dove, Editoriale Quadra, Itinerari Travel, Bell'Europa, Orobie, Gente Viaggi and others, as well as current affairs and women's weeklies Anna, IoDonna, Gioia, Grazia, Amica, 24 magazine from Il Sole 24 Ore for which I also create fashion editorials) and creating tour operator catalogs, in 2001 I settled in Friuli Venezia Giulia and opened an industrial photography studio, thus creating advertising photographs and catalogs for important companies like DeLonghi. Subsequently, with the relocation of the studio to Villach in Austria, I also work as a videomaker and finally can dedicate myself to Fine Art photography. I achieve some satisfaction with international recognition through numerous awards won, especially gold, silver and 3 bronze medals at the New York IPA Contest, Master Color Contest, MIFA, etc., and numerous honorable mentions (more than 100 awards in total) and I am nominated Master QEP Portrait by the European Federation of Photographers.
